Welcome to Illinois Computes
Also available in presentation modeā¦
This is a site for the Illinois Computes consortium dedicated to broadening participation in computing. The site is still young, with substantive content appearing gradually.
The main activity currently being undertaken by the consortium is to arrange visits to a large number of Chicagoland high schools to
- break stereotypes about what kind of people pursue computing careers
- inform students about the wide variety of interesting computing applications and career opportunities
- inform students about the strong employment opportunities for computing professionals
- provide pathways for students to pursue computing careers
Please help us connect with appropriate high school contacts.
This project has recently received funding from the National Science Foundation under grant CNS-0837769. Founding members of the consortium are
- Loyola University Chicago
- University of Illinois at Chicago
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and
- Illinois Institute of Technology.
