About Us

Illinois Computes is dedicated to broadening participation in computing, helping to fill an important national need. This need is especially pressing in the Chicago area.

We primarily connect University faculty and students with schools at the high school level and below to:

  • break stereotypes about what kind of people pursue computing careers
  • inform students about the wide variety of interesting computing applications and career opportunities
  • inform students about the strong employment opportunities for computing professionals
  • provide pathways for students to pursue computing careers

Who We Are

The Illinois Computes website is currently maintained at the Computer Science Department of Loyola University Chicago under the direction of Dr. Ronald Greenberg. University participants are drawn primarily from Loyola University, especially via the Loyola Chapter of the STARS Leadership Corps affiliated with the STARS Alliance. Faculty and students are also drawn from other Chicagoland universities and especially via those who come together in the Computer Science Teachers Association Chicago chapter.
